"How excuisite life had once been! How gorgeous in its pomp and decoration! Even to read of the luxury of the dead was wonderful." Oscar Wilde
I am sick of mainstream fashion. The uninspired fashion that fashion blogs and the high street stores are feeding us with. When one is into fashion it is easy to get sick of it. At times. I love decadense and dandyism - why has fashion lost is former glory?!! I read that Yves Saint Laurent used to laugh at Vogues fashion in the past few year before he died. So do I ... where is the new approach to fashion?!! Why all this boho-romanticism? This springs key items/garments; the oversized Alexander Wang tees, the boyfriend blazer/s and the skinny leggings/jeans are making me sick, still it is what I, as well as everyone else, is wearing. And yet, I love this springs fashion! I adore Emanuel Ungaro, Versace, Fendis florals and origami, Gucci and Pradas crumpled look. It is this fashion that will inspire the summer and late spring fashion on the continent, from Costa Smeralda to Antibes and Cannes. In Milan every rich woman lusts after Dolce&Gabbanas sculptural Schiapparelli fashion. A skinny jean, stiletto heel, an architectural jacket and expensive clutches is the most inspirational look which rules the Milan streets. No matter if you are seventeen or seventy, everybody with money and taste looks great. Dignity and elegance grows with age! Emanuelle Alt and the Sozzani sisters are my heroines. I feel like throwing away my enire warderobe and move to Milan to start a fresh, fashionable life, in colour! Not off-white, grey, stone washed, and firrerent shades of black. Rather decadent brocade (as seen by Dolce&Gabbana), and the Gucci dresses from the s/s 2009 collection. I long for a burning sun, decadent, narcissistic litterature (Waugh, P G Wodehouse) and art - not fashion!
